About the Office to PDF Converter
The Office to PDF Converter turns a Word, Excel, PowerPoint or OpenDocument file into a PDF that looks the same on every screen and every printer. Choose one document, press Convert to PDF, and download the result. There is no signup and no watermark.
This is one of the few tools on this site that does not run inside your browser. Browsers cannot lay out Office documents faithfully, so the conversion happens on our own server in the EU using LibreOffice. The next section explains exactly what that means for your file.
What happens to your file
Sent, converted, returned
Your document travels over an encrypted connection to our server in Germany. The server converts it in memory, streams the PDF straight back to your browser, and discards everything as soon as the response is sent. We do not store the file, we do not store the PDF, we do not open or inspect the contents, and we never log the file name.
What we do keep
Only technical records of the request itself: a random request id, the file type, a size range, how long the conversion took and whether it succeeded. These help us keep the service healthy and are deleted after 30 days. Read the full details in the privacy policy.
Supported formats
Word
DOCX, DOC, ODT and RTF. Fonts, headings, tables, images, headers and footers are kept. If a font is not installed on the server, a close substitute is used and line breaks may shift slightly.
Excel
XLSX, XLS and ODS. Each sheet becomes one or more pages using the print area and page setup saved in the workbook. Set the print area and orientation in your spreadsheet first if you want control over page breaks.
PowerPoint
PPTX, PPT and ODP. Each slide becomes one page. Speaker notes and animations are not included.
Limits
- One file at a time, up to 25 MB. Larger files are refused before anything is uploaded.
- About a minute per conversion. Very large or complex documents may time out; try splitting them.
- Password-protected documents cannot be converted. Remove the password first.
- Linked content is not fetched. Images that live at a web address rather than inside the document are left out.
- A fair-use limit of a handful of conversions per ten minutes keeps the service available for everyone.
