About PNG to PDF conversion
This page turns PNG images into PDF files in your browser. PNG is the format of screenshots, diagrams, logos and graphics exported from design tools, and PDF is what most people expect when you send a document for review, print or archive. Drop in one PNG or many, and each becomes a one-page PDF right away. Press Combine into one PDF to join several screenshots into a single document in the order you choose. Nothing is uploaded, and your files never leave your device.
How to convert PNG to PDF
Steps
- Choose a Page size. Fit to image keeps every pixel of a screenshot at its natural size. A4 or US Letter fits the picture onto a standard page for printing.
- Drag your PNG files onto the drop area, paste them, or choose files. A screenshot copied to the clipboard can be pasted directly.
- Download each PDF, or arrange the files with Move up and Move down and press Combine into one PDF.
- Two or more finished files can also be downloaded together as a ZIP.
Privacy
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your images are never uploaded to our servers, and the PDF files are created on your device. Text chunks and metadata stored inside the PNG are not carried over, and the PDF has no author, title or creation date. Finished files stay in the tab until you close or reload it, and then they are gone.
Transparency, sharpness and size
Transparent areas
A PNG with a transparent background keeps that transparency inside the PDF. Most readers paint the page white behind it, so a logo on a transparent background appears on white. If you need a different background colour, flatten the PNG onto that colour first with the Image Converter.
Pixel-perfect screenshots
PNG is lossless and PDF embeds it losslessly, so text in a screenshot stays as sharp as it was on screen. With Fit to image the page matches the screenshot pixel for pixel. Zooming in a reader will eventually show the pixels, as with any bitmap, but nothing is blurred by compression.
File size
The PDF is about the size of the PNG plus a little structure. Very large screenshots, for example tall captures of a whole web page, are scaled so that no side exceeds 14,400 points, the maximum page size PDF readers accept.
Common uses
- Combine a series of screenshots into one PDF to document a process or report a bug.
- Turn a diagram or chart exported as PNG into a PDF page that can be inserted into a report.
- Send a logo or illustration to a printer as a PDF with a known page size and margin.
- Attach a signed form that was scanned to PNG to an email as a PDF.
