About the PDF Merger

The PDF Merger joins several PDF files into one document without uploading them anywhere. Drop in up to 20 PDFs, put them in order with the Move up and Move down buttons, and press Merge PDFs to download merged.pdf with every page of every file in that order. Each file is checked as soon as it is added and shows its page count, so you can see what you are about to join. Everything runs in your browser, with no signup and no watermark.

How to merge PDF files

Steps

  1. Drag your PDF files onto the drop area, paste them, or choose files. Each file is opened and checked on your device; its page count appears under its name.
  2. Arrange the files. The list order is the page order of the merged document. Use Move up and Move down, or Remove a file you do not want.
  3. Press Merge PDFs. The merged document downloads as merged.pdf.
  4. Need the cleaned individual files instead? Each row also offers its own PDF for download.

Privacy

This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your PDF files are never uploaded to our servers, and the merged document is created on your device. Nothing is kept once you close or reload the tab.

What is kept and what is removed

Kept

Every page of every file, in order, with its original size, rotation, text, images, vector graphics and fonts. A landscape page stays landscape next to a portrait page, and pages of different sizes keep their own dimensions.

Removed on purpose

Interactive form fields, JavaScript, open actions, embedded files, bookmarks and the document information block (author, title, subject, keywords and dates) are stripped from every file, and the output carries only the site name as its producer. This is the same clean-up every PDF produced on this site goes through. It protects you from scripts hidden in files you received and from accidentally passing on personal metadata, at the cost of losing fillable forms and bookmarks. Flatten a form in your PDF reader first if you need its values to stay visible.

Problem files

  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. The row shows a message and the other files still merge. Remove the password in your PDF reader and add the file again.
  • Damaged files, or files that only pretend to be PDFs, fail on their own row. Use Retry after replacing the file.
  • Very large batches are limited to 20 files, 50 MB each and 200 MB in total. Merge in groups and then merge the results.

Frequently asked questions

In what order are the PDF files merged?

In the order they appear in the list on the page. Files are listed in the order you added them, and the Move up and Move down buttons on each row let you rearrange them before you press Merge PDFs.

Why did my merged PDF lose its fillable form fields and bookmarks?

Every PDF this site produces is cleaned before download: form fields, scripts, open actions, embedded files, bookmarks and personal metadata are removed so that nothing hidden travels with the file. If you need the filled-in values to stay visible, flatten the form in your PDF reader first and merge the flattened copy.

Can I merge PDF files that are password-protected?

Not directly. A protected file cannot be opened without its password, so its row shows a message while the other files still merge. Remove the password in your PDF reader, save a copy and add that copy to the list instead.

Does merging change the size or orientation of the pages?

No. Each page keeps its own dimensions and rotation, so an A4 page, a US Letter page and a landscape slide can sit side by side in one document exactly as they were in the originals.

Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge at once?

You can add up to 20 files of up to 50 MB each, and the files to be merged may total 200 MB. Because everything happens in your browser's memory, large batches are best merged in groups, after which the resulting files can be merged again.
