Price Per Pound Formula

\\text{Price Per Pound} = \\frac{\\text{Total Price}}{\\text{Quantity in Pounds}}

\\text{Pounds} = \\text{Grams} \\times 0.00220462

\\text{Pounds} = \\text{Kilograms} \\times 2.20462

\\text{Pounds} = \\text{Ounces} \\times 0.0625

How to Calculate Price Per Pound

Find the total price - The amount you're paying for the product
Convert quantity to pounds - If the package weight is in grams, kilograms, or ounces, convert to pounds
Divide - Total price divided by quantity in pounds

Worked Example

You're comparing two brands of coffee beans:

Brand A: $24.99 for 1kg
Brand B: $22.99 for 2lb

Let's calculate:

Brand A:

1kg × 2.20462 = 2.205lb
$24.99 ÷ 2.205lb = **$ 11.33/lb**

Brand B:

Already in pounds: 2lb
$22.99 ÷ 2lb = **$ 11.50/lb**

Brand A is cheaper by $0.17 per pound despite the higher total price!
