Price Per Gram Formula

$$\\text{Price Per Gram} = \\frac{\\text{Total Price}}{\\text{Quantity in Grams}}$$ $$\\text{Grams} = \\text{Ounces} \\times 28.3495$$ $$\\text{Grams} = \\text{Pounds} \\times 453.592$$ $$\\text{Grams} = \\text{Kilograms} \\times 1,000$$

How to Calculate Price Per Gram

1. Find the total price - The amount you're paying for the product
2. Convert quantity to grams - If the weight is in ounces, pounds, or kilograms, convert to grams
3. Divide - Total price divided by quantity in grams

Worked Example

You're comparing two packages of gold tea bags:

• Package A: $29.99 for 100g
• Package B: $14.99 for 50g

Let's calculate:

Package A:

• Already in grams: 100g
• $29.99 ÷ 100g = **$0.30/g**

Package B:

• Already in grams: 50g
• $14.99 ÷ 50g = **$0.30/g**

Both packages have the same price per gram, so neither is better value.

Another Example - Different Values

You're comparing two brands of saffron:

• Brand A: $99.99 for 5g
• Brand B: $149.99 for 10g

Brand A:

• $99.99 ÷ 5g = **$19.998/g**

Brand B:

• $149.99 ÷ 10g = **$14.999/g**

Brand B is cheaper by $5 per gram!
