About the Working Days Calculator
The Working Days Calculator shows how many working days there are in each month and in a whole year. Pick a year from 1900 to 2199, choose the weekend and the public holidays that apply, and read a table with the working days, weekend days, holidays and calendar days of every month, plus the totals for the year. Payroll teams use it to plan monthly hours, freelancers use it to estimate how many days they can bill, and anyone can use it to answer the classic question of how many days are left in a year once the weekends are taken out.
The same page can also add business days to a date or count the business days between two dates. Switch the mode at the top, or open the Business Days Calculator for a guide to those modes.
365 days minus weekends
A common year has 365 days, which is 52 full weeks and one extra day. The 52 weeks hold 104 weekend days and 260 weekdays. The extra day is a weekday unless the year starts on a Saturday or a Sunday, so most years have 261 working days before holidays:
A leap year has two extra days, so it can have 260, 261 or 262 working days. 2024 started on a Monday and had 262. 2026 starts on a Thursday and has 261. 2028 starts on a Saturday, so both extra days fall on a weekend and it has 260.
2026 with holidays
With a Saturday and Sunday weekend, 2026 has 261 working days. Taking out the 11 US federal holidays leaves 250. Taking out the 8 bank holidays of England and Wales leaves 253, because every one of them falls on a weekday or is moved to one.
Other weekends
Some countries rest on Friday and Saturday, and some workplaces only on Sunday. Choose the weekend that applies and the totals change with it: a Sunday-only weekend gives 2026 a total of 313 working days.
Working days per month
A month has between 20 and 23 weekdays. A 31-day month that starts on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday has 23. February has 20 in a common year, because its 28 days are exactly four weeks. In 2026, January has 22 working days and February has 20 before holidays.

Which years can I check?
Any year from 1900 to 2199. Holidays are worked out from their rules, such as the last Monday in May or the Monday after Easter, so the results do not depend on a downloaded calendar.
