Formula

Count weekdays (Monday through Friday) between two dates, excluding public holidays if specified.

Where n is the number of days in the range (exclusive of end date).

Worked example

Calculate business days from 1 January 2025 to 15 January 2025:

Weekend convention

  • Saturday = Day 6 = Not a business day
  • Sunday = Day 0 = Not a business day
  • Monday to Friday = Days 1-5 = Business days

Adding business days

To add business days to a date, skip weekends and holidays. For example, adding 5 business days to a Friday lands on the following Friday, not the following Wednesday.
