About SVG to JPG conversion

This page turns SVG files into JPG images in your browser. Plenty of upload forms, marketplaces, email tools and older apps still refuse SVG and only take JPG, so a vector logo or illustration has to be turned into a picture first. Choose a size, pick the colour that should appear behind transparent areas, drop the files in and download the results. Your files are never uploaded and never leave your device. There is no signup and no watermark. JPG is already selected as the output on this page.

How to convert an SVG to JPG

Steps

  1. Check that JPG is selected under Output format. It is chosen for you on this page.
  2. Set the JPG quality if you want something other than the default of 90, and pick a background colour for transparent areas.
  3. Choose the size. Scale draws the SVG at 1× to 8× of its natural size; Width and height gives an exact size, with the other side following the proportions when only one is filled in.
  4. Drag your SVG files onto the drop area, paste them, or choose files. Conversion starts straight away. Download each JPG, or all of them as one ZIP.

Privacy

Everything runs in your browser. The SVG is drawn and encoded on your device, nothing is uploaded, and scripts or outside links inside the SVG are removed before it is drawn. The finished files stay in the tab until you close or reload it.

Transparent areas and quality

Why white or another colour appears

JPG cannot store transparency. Each transparent pixel is blended with the background colour, so an SVG logo with no background becomes a logo on white. Pick black for a white logo, or a brand colour for a banner. Soft edges blend smoothly rather than leaving a halo.

Quality for flat artwork

Flat colours and sharp edges show JPG compression more than photos do. A quality of 90 is a good default for drawings. Raise it to 95 for logos with fine lines, and lower it only when a file size limit forces you to. If you need crisp edges and transparency, use SVG to PNG instead.

Worked example

A logo with viewBox="0 0 120 40" and no width or height is 120 × 40 pixels at its natural size. Converting at 6× with a white background gives a 720 × 240 JPG that is sharp enough for a banner. To get exactly 1200 pixels wide, switch to Width and height, type 1200 in the width, and the height becomes 400.

Things worth knowing

  • Text. Fonts that are not embedded in the SVG cannot be loaded, so text appears in a fallback font. Convert text to outlines before exporting.
  • Outside images. Pictures that point to another web address are not loaded.
  • Size limits. Output is limited to 16384 pixels on a side and 32 megapixels in total.

Frequently asked questions

What colour are the transparent parts of my SVG in the JPG?

White by default. JPG cannot store transparency, so every transparent area is filled with a solid colour. Use the background colour control before you convert to pick another one, such as black for a light logo or a brand colour for a banner.

What JPG quality should I use for an SVG?

The default of 90 is a good balance for most drawings. Flat colours and sharp edges show compression artefacts more than photos do, so raise the quality towards 95 for logos and diagrams, and lower it only when a file size limit forces you to.

Should I convert an SVG to JPG or to PNG?

Choose PNG for logos, icons, diagrams and anything with text or hard edges, because it is lossless and keeps transparency. Choose JPG for illustrations with gradients or photographic textures when the destination only accepts JPG, such as some upload forms and email tools.

How do I get a JPG at an exact size from an SVG?

Switch Size by to Width and height and fill in the width, the height, or both. With only one filled in, the other follows the proportions of the drawing. With both filled in, the drawing is stretched to that box, so match the proportions if you want to avoid distortion.

Can I convert many SVG files to JPG at once?

Yes. Add up to 20 files in one go. They share the same settings, each one shows the size it was drawn at, and you can download them one by one or as a single ZIP.

Are my SVG files uploaded when I convert them?

No. Everything runs in your browser and the JPG files are created on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, and the files are gone when you close the tab.
