Up to 20 files, 50 MB each. PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, BMP and GIF files.

The same settings apply to every file you add. Each row shows the original and the new size when done. Everything happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and photo metadata such as location is removed. Resized files stay in this tab until you close or reload it.

About resizing PNG images

This page resizes PNG images in your browser. PNG is the format of screenshots, logos, icons, diagrams and anything exported from a design tool with a transparent background, and those files often need to be a specific size: an icon set, a header image for a site, a screenshot that must fit a document, or a logo that has to be exactly 512 pixels wide. Type the size, drop in the files, download the results. Nothing is uploaded, and your files never leave your device.

How to resize a PNG

Steps

  1. Under Resize by, choose Pixels and type the width or the height. Keep aspect ratio fills in the other side so nothing is squashed. Choose Percent for a quick half or double size.
  2. Keep Output format on Same as input so transparency is kept and nothing is compressed. Switch to JPEG only for photos that have no transparent areas.
  3. Drag your PNG files onto the drop area, paste a screenshot from the clipboard, or choose files. Each file shows its old and new size when done.
  4. Download each file, or all of them as a ZIP.

Privacy

Everything runs in your browser. Your images are never uploaded to our servers, and the resized files are created on your device. Text chunks and metadata stored inside the PNG are dropped from the result.

Transparency, sharpness and pixel art

Transparent backgrounds

PNG keeps every level of transparency, and so does this tool. Resampling is done with alpha premultiplied, which means the soft edge of a logo on a transparent background stays clean rather than picking up a dark halo. The resized PNG drops straight onto any background.

Screenshots and text

Shrinking a screenshot averages pixels, so text stays readable but gets softer as the reduction grows. For documentation, reduce in moderate steps such as 75 or 50 percent, and prefer cropping to the relevant part before shrinking the rest.

Pixel art and icons

Smooth interpolation blurs hard pixel edges. For pixel art that needs to stay crisp when enlarged, a nearest-neighbour scale would be the right tool, and that is not offered here yet. Shrinking icons works well; enlarging small icons gives a soft result.

Common sizes

  • App and web icons: 512 × 512, 192 × 192, 180 × 180, 32 × 32. Set width and height to the same value and keep the aspect ratio on for square sources.
  • Open Graph and social preview images: fit within 1200 × 630.
  • Documentation screenshots: fit within 1600 × 1000 or scale to 50 percent of a high-density capture.
  • Logos for email signatures: 300 pixels wide with the height following.
