About salary to hourly calculator

How it works

The Salary to Hourly Calculator converts annual or monthly salaries to hourly wages, and vice versa. It helps you understand your true hourly rate when paid a fixed salary, or estimate your annual income from an hourly wage.

Standard work assumptions

By default, the calculator assumes:

  • 40 hours per week
  • 5 days per week
  • 52 weeks per year

These can be customized for part-time work or varying schedules.

Calculating hourly from salary

To convert an annual salary to an hourly wage:

textHourlyRate=fractextAnnualSalarytextHoursperWeektimestextWeeksperYear\\text{Hourly Rate} = \\frac{\\text{Annual Salary}}{\\text{Hours per Week} \\times \\text{Weeks per Year}}

For example, a $60,000 annual salary at 40 hours/week for 52 weeks:

textHourlyRate=frac6000040times52=frac600002080=28.85\\text{Hourly Rate} = \\frac{60000}{40 \\times 52} = \\frac{60000}{2080} = 28.85
