RIPEMD-160 Hash Generator Online, Free and Private
Compute the RIPEMD-160 hash of text or a file in your browser, the digest behind Bitcoin addresses, with RIPEMD-128, 256 and 320 alongside. Nothing is uploaded.

About the RIPEMD-160 hash
This page computes the RIPEMD-160 hash of text or a file in your browser. RIPEMD-160 was designed in 1996 by Hans Dobbertin, Antoon Bosselaers and Bart Preneel as a strengthened replacement for the original RIPEMD, and produces a 160-bit digest written as 40 hexadecimal characters. It is best known today as half of Bitcoin's HASH160, the RIPEMD-160 of a SHA-256 digest that forms legacy addresses, and it still appears in OpenPGP and some older standards. Type or paste text, or choose a file of up to 50 MB. Nothing is uploaded, and your data never leaves your device.
How to get a RIPEMD-160 hash
Steps
- Type or paste the text, or press Choose file for a file of up to 50 MB.
- RIPEMD-160 is already selected. The Algorithm list also offers RIPEMD-128, RIPEMD-256 and RIPEMD-320.
- Use Upper case or Base64 to match the format you need, then press Copy RIPEMD-160.
- Paste a published value into Compare with; the page reads Matches or No match.
Privacy
The hash is computed by code running on this page. Your text and files are never uploaded to our servers and are forgotten when you close the tab.
The RIPEMD family
RIPEMD-160
No practical collision attack on full RIPEMD-160 is known, but its 160-bit output gives only 80-bit collision resistance, below today's recommended 128 bits. Use it to interoperate with Bitcoin and existing formats, and prefer SHA-256, SHA-3 or BLAKE3 for new designs.
RIPEMD-128, RIPEMD-256 and RIPEMD-320
RIPEMD-128 is a four-round variant with a 128-bit digest and only 64-bit collision resistance, too little for security today. RIPEMD-256 and RIPEMD-320 run the two parallel lines of RIPEMD-128 and RIPEMD-160 without merging them, giving longer outputs; their designers state they are no more secure than RIPEMD-128 and RIPEMD-160. They are offered for compatibility with systems that use them.
Checking the output
- RIPEMD-160 of
abcis8eb208f7e05d987a9b044a8e98c6b087f15a0bfc, a vector from the designers' page. - Bitcoin's HASH160 hashes the raw SHA-256 bytes, not their hex text, so typing a hex public key here does not reproduce an address.
- On a terminal,
printf 'abc' | openssl dgst -ripemd160should match this page.
