Decrement calendar date

Formula

Subtract days, months, or years from any date using the formula:

textnewDate=textoriginalDate−textduration\\text{newDate} = \\text{originalDate} - \\text{duration}

Where duration is the sum of days, months, and years to subtract.

Worked example

Decrement 15 August 2025 by 60 days:

  1. Start date: 15 August 2025
  2. Subtract 60 days
  3. August has 31 days, so go back 15 days to 1 August 2025
  4. 60 - 15 = 45 days left to subtract
  5. July has 31 days, so go back to 1 July 2025
  6. 45 - 31 = 14 days left
  7. June has 30 days, so 30 - 14 = 16 June 2025

Result: 16 June 2025
